Queen's Gardens

A grade II listed split level apartment on the 3rd floor of this grand white stucco building overlooking a beautiful private square. The client brief was to improve the existing floorplan and upgrade the finishes. Upon removing the existing finishes, it was revealed that one false ceiling had an entire space 2.5 meter space above. So we created a new access to a new room which came to be a study that overlooks the living room. Further, the separating wall between the kitchen and living room was removed to create an open plan kitchen/living. The kitchen island is raised slightly more than normal in order to create a separation and so that kitchen mess concealed from the living area.

Based in West London, Studio Stodberg has established itself as an Architectural Studio specialising in private residential work. We are a design-led team that aims to provide architectural solutions which accommodate the lifestyle and needs of the end-user.

    Approach to Design

We aim to bring an innovative, practical and detailed solution to every project and believe that the key success factor lies in understanding the client’s aspirations in this collaborative process. We strive to create a uniquely personalised service for projects of every kind and size. It is our ambition to embrace the opportunities that the each site holds and seek solutions where conditions can become an advantage rather than an obstacle. We aim to maximise the potential of your site with a creative approach to design, and we recognise the importance of fine detailing and craftsmanship in the creation of inspiring architecture.

Careful management of quality, cost and time allows us to provide a smooth and reliable process from initial sketches to completion of the works.

    Our Services

Studio Stödberg offer a complete architectural service starting with finding the perfect property, sketching up a custom layout and obtain permission from the local council. Next, we produce detailed drawings for tender and carefully manage the tender process before appointing a contractor.

During the onsite phase we will inspect and oversee works on site regularly and deal with arising issues and instruct works to ensure the project runs smoothly. We have worked on a wide spectrum of residential projects ranging from extensions, loft conversions and basements, to large-scale refurbishments of listed properties as well as complete demolitions and new builds. We are familiar with the complexities of London projects, including working with attached properties and sites with neighbours in close proximity.

We have experience in dealing with various London boroughs and will negotiate with planning officers to achieve the best possible results for our clients. Our years of experience from working in London have also enabled us to develop a list of recommended consultants, from Party Wall Surveyors, Mechanical Specialists, Structural Engineers, Building Inspectors to Audio Visual experts.

    Annika Stödberg

Annika set up Studio Stödberg in 2008 with a vision to carry out residential refurbishments and developments that cater for each individual’s requirements and offer a highly bespoke service.

Annika’s design language has been shaped by her Scandinavian background and upbringing. Her interest was always drawn to simplicity and nature and how this can be incorporated in daily life and applied to make design functional with a rich aesthetic integrity.

Her curiosity brought her to London where she earned a BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Spatial Design from Chelsea College of Art & Design. Following graduation she initially worked at Bulthaup designing highly engineered German kitchens. In 2005 she joined Michaelis Boyd Associates, a dynamic and at the time fast growing architectural practice, specialising in both residential and commercial projects.

    Interior Design

We believe that beautiful and functional interiors enhance the elegance of a well designed room and are an extension of its architecture. We are passionate about finding the right pieces whether new or antique and also offer bespoke furniture and cabinetry design.

    Sustainability

We strive to create beautiful buildings that combine old and new technologies whilst being cost effective, environmentally conscious and a pleasure to inhabit. Environmental impact is a key consideration in our work, and whenever possible we specify sustainable features such as high performance insulation, materials with low embodied energy and efficient services. Sustainability is considered throughout the design process and we recognise the contribution of every element of the building/site.
